Tips for Organizing Your Internet Marketing Business
Monday, May 3rd, 2010It seems internet marketing is the easiest business model available. Everyone has seen the ads for “making money in your spare time” plastered all over the net. But the real truth is that IM is just like any other business model, and you’ll need to work and spend time on it if you ever want to see any money. One of the very first items on your agenda is to organize your business. If you take the time to introduce organization in your daily business, then you’ll be able to focus more and be more efficient – that all equals more money in your pocket. Next we’ll review some tips to organizing your business that will help you earn more.
Set up a filing system.
Having a filing cabinet is one thing but having an easily understandable filing system is something else. But you don’t want to lose time if your filing cabinet itself is not organized. Some basic files to make: A file for every client. A file for the month’s “paid-out” invoices and receipts. A different file for monthly “incoming paid” receipts/invoices. A separate file with the same info plus profits for each month. A file for the finished tax year where everything gets put together with a copy of your filed tax returns. Also create any files you feel are important to your business.
Maintain a clear space for work, keep all things in place and avoid clutter. Each work day, devote just a few minutes to maintain a clear/clean work desk. Take care of your filing. You really don’t want to waste 10-15 minutes looking for those yellow post-it notes because they’re hiding somewhere.
Take the time to organize everything and give them a place to ‘live.’ Things such as paper, pencils, markers, pens, post-its, etc. So you can either clean-up at the end of your work day, or what’s really best is to put things away when you’re done with them.
Make a “To Do” list every day.
It’s unnecessary to schedule down to each minute, unless you want to, but using a written list things you need to get done during the day will help a lot. Then you can just follow the list. These are great when you have some free-time. You can even create several To-Do lists. You could make one list for daily duties such as answering emails, taking care of invoices, tracking finances, etc. Then the other list is for long term work such as projects you’re working on, long term marketing campaigns, and things like that. Now, what you’ll do is use the long term list to keep yourself productive and busy when you’re done with the normal, daily items. Organizing your business helps you earn more money. It’ll make you more efficient and prevent wasted energy and time. Keeping track of your business is much easier when you take some time to organize it!
